Coe College's Thursday Forum lecture series for adult learners will enter November exploring the technology boom of the last half century.

Coe College's Thursday Forum lecture series for adult learners will enter November exploring the technology boom of the last half century.

Assistant Professor Teacher Education Christy Wolfe and Academic Technologist Lisa Wiebenga-Stroschine will launch the series Oct. 29 by considering technological breakthroughs since the 1940s and 50s. In considering the bells and whistles of today's technological advances, the presenters will connect the past with the present - and the future - of technology.

In the subsequent sessions the first three Thursdays of November, Wolfe and Wiebenga-Stroschine will look specifically at the role of technology in the medical field and in the area of education. They'll also discuss whether our "24/7 connected" society is better or worse than the comparative decades.

The lectures are held in Kesler Lecture Hall in Hickok Hall on the Coe campus. Each session begins with coffee and pastries from 8:45-9:15 a.m., followed by the class until 11:30 a.m. The course is open to all adults and registration is on-site. The cost of the four-part series is $30, or $10 per week.
