     Title: Opening Coe art exhibit held in conjunction with Iowa Clay Conference

The opening art show of the 2013-14 season at Coe College features an exhibition by ceramic artists in conjunction with the Iowa Clay Conference being held Sept. 20-22 at The Ceramics Center in Cedar Rapids. The "Residents and Presenters" exhibit will be open from Sept. 20 through Oct. 13 from 4-6 p.m. daily in the Marvin Cone and Eaton-Buchan Galleries of Sinclair Auditorium.

The opening art show of the 2013-14 season at Coe College features an exhibition by ceramic artists in conjunction with the Iowa Clay Conference being held Sept. 20-22 at The Ceramics Center in Cedar Rapids. The "Residents and Presenters" exhibit will be open from Sept. 20 through Oct. 13 from 4-6 p.m. daily in the Marvin Cone and Eaton-Buchan Galleries of Sinclair Auditorium.

An opening reception will be held on Saturday, Sept. 21 from 7-9 p.m. This event is part of a bus tour that attendees of the Iowa Clay Conference will be taking to view ceramic exhibitions at several local galleries and colleges throughout the city, as well as the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art. Both the reception and the exhibition are free and open to the public.

The "Presenters" exhibition will feature work from Bede Clarke, professor of art at the University of Missouri; Margaret Bohls, assistant professor of art at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln; Thaddeus (TJ) Erdahl, artist-in residence at the Guldagergaard International Ceramic Research Center in Denmark; and Israel Davis, assistant professor of sculpture and functional art in the Kendall College of Art and Design at Ferris State University, Grand Rapids, Mich.

The "Residents" exhibition features the work of 16 artists, all of whom are past and present artists in residence at The Ceramics Center, including three Coe alumni - Josh Gerber, class of 2002; Kelsey Schroeder, class of 2010; and Amanda Knutson, class of 2012. The other artists exhibiting include: Tammy Kopecky, John-Thomas Richard, Anne Wendland, Christine Rebhuhn, Teresa Childers, Juston Rominger, Frank Ditri, Gratia Brown, Jennifer Cole, Will Rimel, Amythest Warrington, Wendy Thoreson and Amy Nichols.
