During the 24-hour event, students, faculty and staff members sit in “shacks” (cardboard boxes) that are placed on the Coe library quad.  The shacks are inhabited for a full day and night as a visible representation of the living conditions that exist for some people.  Money is raised by the students through donations and the sale of T-shirts.

Fundraising proceeds from this year’s event will be donated to the Cedar Valley Habitat for Humanity to support building new houses in Cedar Rapids.
