The groups will perform an outdoor farewell concert on the grounds of Washington High School in Cedar Rapids on Wednesday, August 3, beginning at 6 p.m.  This concert is a prelude to the Cedar Rapids Municipal Band concert at 7:30 p.m.  In case of inclement weather, the Coe bands will perform in the Washington High School band room.  Both concerts are free with the public invited to attend.

Consisting of Coe students, faculty, alumni, community players and professional musicians, the ensembles are led by Coe Music Professor and Band Director William Carson and Coe music instructor Al Naylor, who will be featured on the trumpet.

The group’s repertoire will feature a wealth of variety, including the work of composers as diverse as John Williams, John Philip Sousa, Henry Mancini and Irving Berlin.  In particular, the concerts will feature popular music from classic Hollywood films, such as “Raiders of the Lost Ark,” “Pink Panther,” “Blue Skies” and “Pirates of the Caribbean.”  For more information, visit www.coe.edu/bands
