Computer Science

Coe's computer science program is designed to prepare students for careers in industry and to provide a solid theoretical foundation for students interested in attending graduate school. The Department of Mathematical Sciences offers both a major and minor concentration in computer science.

  • Advanced courses are offered in topics such as Computer Graphics, Advanced Object-Oriented Programming, Computer Security, Theory of Computation, and Compilers.
  • Many Cedar Rapids businesses offer internship opportunities for the practical application of computer science knowledge.
  • A semester-long program at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory allows advanced students in the mathematical sciences to work alongside professional scientists as junior members of Oak Ridge research teams.
  • Custom-designed computer laboratories, study areas, and classrooms to promote an enhanced learning environment.
