As you likely know, Coe College recently completed a 7-year fundraising effort, the Defining Moment Campaign. The goal of this endeavor was to raise $80 million to further four core areas central to the institution: the Endowment, the renovation of Peterson Hall of Science, the Coe Fund, and the East Campus Expansion. I’m proud to say that the Coe community went above and beyond - in total, this effort garnered more than 10,000 gifts, and over $90 million dollars for the college.
Let me assure you that this money is, and will be, put to good use. Above all, our focus in advancing Coe College is to use the funds you have gifted in the most appropriate and fiscally-responsible manner. As such, we have taken many steps to ensure that the dollars raised in conjunction with the Defining Moment Campaign (like all funds entrusted to Coe College) are applied to achieve the maximum benefit, and not needlessly expended.
An example of our stewardship approach was the recent Defining Moment Campaign Finale, which was produced entirely in-house, and for a fraction of the expense vendors quoted. Here at Coe, we are privileged to have many talented individuals in our ranks - alumni, faculty, staff, and students alike. All came together on October 18th to put on a one-of-a-kind experience in celebration of the monumental achievement the Coe community reached with the culmination of this $90 million campaign.

Again, thank you to the entire Coe community - without your generous support, this effort would not have been possible. As the great author and poet Dr. Maya Angelou noted, "I’ve learned that you shouldn’t go through life with a catcher's mitt on both hands. You need to be able to throw something back." The Defining Moment Campaign will go down in history as Coe College's most successful comprehensive campaign, and a testament to the college community, who banded together to make a difference. Thank you for giving back.
Sincerely,
Richard Meisterling
