Rader breaks
record, wins Hammer Throw at IIAC Championships
WAVERLY, Iowa – Senior
Holly Rader (Sumner, Iowa/Sumner-Fredricksburg)
broke the Iowa Conference record en route to winning the
Hammer Throw at Saturday's Iowa Conference Outdoor Championships.
Rader's throw of 171' 1" is the sixth best toss in
the country and has provisionally qualified Rader for the
NCAA Outdoor Championships. Coe crowned one other champion
on the day as freshman Ashley Schnell (Lincoln,
Neb./North Star) won the 800-Meter Run in 2:14.77, which
provisionally qualified her for the NCAA meet.
Schnell also finished fifth in
the 1500-Meter Run in a time of 4:50.34. The women's team
finished sixth with 48 points.
On the men's side, Nick
Leerhoff (Linden, Iowa/ADM) finished third in the
Shot Put with a throw of 48' 3 1/2". The Kohawks had
three fourth place finishes in Kyle Brockmeyer
(Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Kennedy) , Justin Janss
(Belle Plaine, Iowa/Belle Plaine) and the 4x100 Relay Team.
Brockmeyer had a time of 15.49 in the 110 Hurdles, Janss
ran a 49.52 in the 400-Meter Dash, while the 4x100 Relay
Team ran a 42.72. The men's team finished eighth with 36
points.
