Kohawks defeat Grinnell in first round of NCAA Tourney

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The Coe women's tennis team used two wins each from junior Molly Fiala (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Jefferson) and freshman Hannah Jensen (Iowa City, Iowa/West) to advance to the second round of the NCAA Women's Tennis Tournament. Fiala teamed with Andrea Schupbach (Waterloo, Iowa/Columbus) at number one doubles, while Jensen teamed with sophomore Hillary Allen (Ft. Collins, Colo./Ft. Collins) at number two doubles.

Freshman Katy Delagardelle (Waterloo, Iowa/Columbus) and sophomore Megan Fiala (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Jefferson) won 8-5 at number three doubles to put the Kohawks up 3-0 heading into singles play.

The Kohawks led in all other singles matches before play was halted as the match was completed with Coe's wins at number one and two singles.

Coe will return to action Friday as they play top-seeded Wheaton at 9 a.m. The two teams have met twice earlier this year, with Wheaton winning the first match 6-3 in Orlando, Fla. Coe won the second meeting 5-4 at the Midwest Invitational.
