The Coe Sports Information Department has announced that junior football player Zach Nosbisch and sophomore women’s golfer Angela Meisterling have been selected Kohawk Male and Female Athletes of the Week for the period ending Oct. 2.

Nosbisch had eight tackles, a sack and an interception in Coe’s 14-10 homecoming win against Luther on Saturday. Nosbisch also forced a fumble in the first half, and broke up two passes during the game.

Nosbisch helped Coe’s defense hold Luther’s all-conference running back Tyler Sherden to a career-low 115 yards rushing and no touchdowns. Coe’s football team is ranked 20th nationally according to a poll released by the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA).

“I felt Zach played an excellent game Saturday,” said Coe head coach Erik Raeburn. “He came back from an early season injury and played extremely well.”

Meisterling fired rounds of 82 and 85 at the Iowa Conference Championship Meet held at Pheasant Ridge Golf Course in Cedar Falls last weekend.

Her two-day score of 167 broke Coe's 36-hole scoring record set by Darcy Driscoll in 1996. Meisterling currently stands in a four-way tie for 12th-place on the championship leaderboard. The top-10 individuals will be named to the all-Iowa Conference Team.

“Angela has made a lot of improvements throughout the year,” said Coe head coach J.D. Grimm. “I’m glad to see that she is peaking at the right time.”
