Sunday’s quarterfinal match went by rather quickly as Fiala made quick work of Wisconsin-Whitewater’s Nicole Stamm, 6-1, 6-0. In one of the closest matches of the tournament, Fiala came out on top 7-5, 6-4.

Football: (4-0, 2-0)
Kohawks use all tools in win over Buena Vista

The Coe football team had everything put together in Saturday's game against Buena Vista. Robert DeMoulin threw for 368 yards, completing 20 of 25 passes, including three touchdowns to lead the Kohawks to a 41-17 victory. DeMoulin’s 368 yards is the fourth most passing yards in a game in school history.

DeMoulin wasn’t the only person climbing the charts of the Kohawk record books on Saturday. On the defensive side of the ball, Adam Jordison was breaking records on almost every play. Jordison broke the school record for tackles for a loss and sacks in a game as he registered five sacks for a loss of 37 yards for the Beavers. With his five sacks and tackles for a loss, he became the all-time leader for both categories. He now has 36 tackles for a loss and 15 sacks in his career. His five sacks also tied an Iowa Conference record.

After punting on their first two possessions, the Kohawks went on to score touchdowns on six of their next seven possessions. Junior Neil Suckow put the Kohawks on the board with 3:38 to play in the first quarter with a one-yard touchdown run. Two minutes later the Beavers were taking the lead once again after getting a one-yard run from Cody Pierce. The 10-7 first quarter lead for the Beavers wouldn’t last long as Ashton Northern scored on a 12-yard run with 10:19 to play in the first half. With Coe leading 14-10, that would be the closest the Beavers would come to the Kohawks for the rest of the afternoon.

With 5:52 to play in the first half, Suckow scored on his second one-yard run of the half to cap off a seven-play, 93-yard drive to put the Kohawks ahead 20-10. To end the first half, Northern scored on a 25-yard screen pass from DeMoulin that capped off an eight-play, 95-yard drive.

The Kohawks would have a calmer second half, minus two big plays through the air. With 10:50 to play in the third, DeMoulin hooked up with Suckow for a 35-yard touchdown that put Coe ahead 34-10, their largest lead of the game. Less than four minutes later DeMoulin hooked up with Jon Rife for a 64-yard touchdown pass. The catch was Rife’s 21st career touchdown catch, tying him with Tom Marshall for the most in school history.

Weekly Honors: Adam Jordison was named the Iowa Conference Male Athlete of the Week. Jordison, a senior defensive end, tied an Iowa Conference record with five sacks in Coe’s 41-17 victory over Buena Vista. He also had nine tackles in the game (six solo) and became Coe’s career leader in tackles for loss and sacks. He is the fourth IIAC player to record five sacks in a game, the first since Wartburg’s Matt Stoffel in September 2003.

Nationally Ranked: The Kohawks are ranked in the top 20 in many national categories, led by junior quarterback Robert DeMoulin's 173.5 pass effiency rating. He leads the Iowa Conference and is ranked 11th in the nation. Junior Neil Suckow is ranked eighth in scoring and 25th in all-purpose yards. Senior Adam Jordison ranks third in the nation in tackles for a loss and eighth in sacks, averaging 1.5 sacks per game and 3.1 tackles for a loss.
