Kohawks finish third at IIAC Championships

DECORAH, Iowa - Junior Nolan Schmelzer (Muscatine, Iowa/Muscatine) became the first Kohawk since Josh Ketter in 2004 to earn All-Iowa Conference honors as Coe finished third at this year's Iowa Conference Championships. Coe totaled 1111 strokes, good enough for a third place finish, the highest for the Kohawks since their second place finish in 2001. The Kohawks were able to edge out Wartburg by one stroke, as the third through fifth place teams were separated by four strokes.

Schmelzer led the Kohawks with a four-round score of 272. The top ten players were separated by six strokes. Senior Jayson Schmelzer (Muscatine, Iowa/Muscatine) finished one spot out of making All-Conference honors with his 11th place finish. He totaled 273 strokes.

The three other Kohawks competing all finished in the top 30. Senior Chris Buhr (Readlyn, Iowa/Wapsie Valley) finished tied for 22nd with a 286, while fellow senior Michael Jump (Washington, Iowa/Washington) shot a 289 to finish 27th. Junior Nate Feldman (Jewell, Iowa/South Hamilton) finished tied for 29th with a 294.
