Schnell, O'Neil qualify for NCAA Championships

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa- Freshman Ashley
Schnell (Lincoln, Neb./NorthStar) and junior Brad
O'Neil (Stuarts Draft, Vir./Stuarts Draft) have
qualfied for the NCAA Championships next weekend in Northfield,
Minn. Schnell led the Kohawks at the NCAA Regional Saturday
hosted by St. Olaf as she finished in 10th place, the highest
NCAA Regional placewinner for the Kohawks since Jenna Boerboom
in 2003. Schnell helped the women's team to a 19th place
finish overall.
O'Neil finished 14th overall in a time of
25:48. O'Neil's 14th place finish is the highest at the
NCAA Regionals for any Kohawk since Todd Henecke's 13th
place finish in 1992. The men's team placed 14th overall,
the highest NCAA Regional finish in school history.
Schnell becomes the third women's runner in
school history to qualify for the National meet while O'Neil
is the first male runner in school history.
