Coe bows out of IIAC Tournament
with loss to Loras
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa. - A 2-0 lead through
four innings wasn't enough for the Kohawks on Friday
night at Veteran's Stadium as Coe fell 16-3 to Loras.
The loss ends the season for Coe, whom finished with
a 22-20 overall record and a third place finish in
the Iowa Conference.
The Kohawks put their two runs on the
scoreboard in the second inning as junior Tyler
McAllister (Ursa, Ill./Mendon-Unity) led
the inning off with a walk. McAllister then moved
to second base as sophomore Ryan Schisler
(Morrison, Ill./Morrison) reached on an error by the
second baseman. Both runners moved up as sophomore
Pat Richmond (Algonquin, Ill./Dundee
Crown) reached on a bunt single to third base.
With the bases loaded, sophomore Eric
Hanna (Marion, Iowa/Marion) singled and advanced
to second on a throwing error by the third baseman.
Both Schisler and McAllister scored on the play.
Trailing 2-0 in the fifth, the Duhawks
put up four runs to take a 4-2 lead, but the Kohawks
bounced back with a run in the bottom half of the
inning to cut into the lead. Senior Ryan Baranowski
(Hawthorn Woods, Ill./Lake Zurich) sent a one-out
pitch up the middle for a single and advanced to second
on a throwing error by the pitcher. He scored on the
next at-bat as freshman Ryan Velvick
(Swisher, Iowa/Prairie) singled to left center field.
The Duhawks put the game out of reach in the top of
the sixth with an 11-run inning, the second time in
a week the Kohawks have given up 11 runs in one inning.
Loras tacked on another run in the seventh before
the game was ended by the run rule.

a combined 5-for-10 in the 3-4-5 spots as the Kohawks
finished with seven hits total.

Iowa/Alburnett) took the loss for the Kohawks, falling
to 4-3 on the year in 4.2 innings pitched. Boyse gave
