Defining Moment: The Campaign for Coe

Endowment
Sustaining & strengthening people & programs

Endowment funds are one of the key measures of institutional strength and long-term success. These funds, held permanently by the college, yield earnings each year that allow Coe to fulfill its academic mission. Although Coe has always offered a high-quality education, the College’s endowment is very modest – much smaller than those found at many peer institutions. To guarantee continued excellence, Coe must increase significantly the size of its endowment. This remains one of our highest priorities. Below is a list of endowment (and naming) opportunities. The dollar amounts are minimum levels required to establish the respective endowment funds:

  • Presidential Chair ($3,000,000)

Allows the President of the College to respond in a timely manner to special opportunities that will advance the institution.

  • Comprehensive Scholarship ($500,000)

Provides a student with sufficient aid to pay for one year of education including tuition, room and board and fees.

  • Scholarships ($25,000+)

Provides merit scholarships to outstanding young scholars and financial aid for those who qualify.

  • Faculty/Staff Chairs ($1,000,000)

The most powerful academic gift, the endowed chair will bear the name of the donor or a person named by the donor. The donor works with the College to determine the criteria for selecting the faculty or staff member to be honored with the Chair. Endowed chairs are critical to the College's ability to attract and retain outstanding faculty and staff in a highly competitive environment.

  • Programs ($25,000+)

Provides academic support for student and faculty research, visiting scholars and lecturers, and institutional equipment and scientific instrumentation. Assists in funding campus programs and events that enrich students’ overall experiences.

  • Computing ($25,000+)

Helps fund the maintenance and upgrading of Coe’s sophisticated campus-wide network and extend the use of computer applications in instructional areas.

  • Off-Campus Study ($25,000+)

Supports academic research, field work, internships, study abroad and other off- campus educational opportunities consistent with the Coe Plan.

Significant donor recognition opportunities are available for each of the above projects. For more details, please contact:
