Alliant Energy.
When it comes to corporate giving, Alliant Energy has set the
bar high. Our friends at Alliant Energy have generously supported
many projects here on campus, from the renovation of Kesler Lecture
Hall to our annual Homecoming 5K run. Through the generosity of
many donors, such as Alliant Energy and Eliza Hickok Kesler ‘31,
after whom the hall is named, the Kesler Lecture Hall was renovated
and transformed into a state-of-the-art electronic classroom equipped
with multimedia presentation equipment and sound-and-lighting
systems controlled from a touch screen panel at the lectern. The
room has 156-theater-style seats, and the center aisle is designated
for handicapped participants. In addition to classes, the hall
is regularly home to a variety of public lectures, presentations,
and film festivals.
Alliant Energy also stepped forward and served as a corporate
sponsor of the College’s One by One Campaign for Coe finale
and the fifth annual Presidential Ball. These events, held on
December 1, 2001, celebrated the culmination of the most successful
capital campaign in Coe’s history. We were proud to share
this defining moment for the College with our friends from Alliant
Energy.
Quaker Oats. For
the past four years, Quaker Oats has been one of Coe’s most
generous corporate donors. In keeping with the company’s
own commitment to diversity, Quaker Oats put that commitment to
work when making their gift to Coe. With help from its national
corporate foundation, Quaker Oats has awarded Coe College $20,000
in minority scholarship funds each of the past four years. The
scholarship money is awarded among approximately four minority
students each fall. Additionally, scholarship recipients are offered
the opportunity for an internship at Quaker Oats. This gift from
Quaker Oats helps fulfill two strategic initiatives for Coe: the
quest for greater diversity and an academic requirement that all
students participate in an out-of-the-classroom experience before
they graduate. The partnership also assists Quaker Oats in developing
relationships with prospective employees.
