Transfer Credit Policy

Coe College’s transfer policy requires that courses that are used for credit towards Coe College graduation be completed at the college level from a regionally accredited college or university, with an earned grade of C or better (S/P are not accepted unless evidence can be provided that the grade would have been a C or better). Two searchable tables include information about Kirkwood Community College courses to let you know if courses you have completed at KCC will transfer to Coe College.

Click here for a list of courses offered by Kirkwood Community College, ordered by prefix and the course number. From this table, you will be able to see if a course you completed with a C or better is accepted, is not accepted, or is accepted under certain conditions (by petition) at Coe College.

Click here for the same list of courses, but is organized slightly different by accepted courses first, followed by those that would need a petition, and then by those that are not accepted. In both tables, if nothing with a specific prefix is accepted by Coe College, this is noted with the prefix.

As you review this table, keep in mind the following. Courses completed at Kirkwood College with a C or better:

  1. May count towards a major only through permission of the appropriate department chair,
  2. May count for general education only if they are at least 0.75 course credits (three semester hours),
  3. May not count as a writing emphasis course,
  4. May be accepted at a lower level than Coe offers, but transfer credit originally awarded at the lower level will be removed from the Coe transcript if the upper level course is taken at Coe for credit.

Please note: Students who have earned an A.A. degree at Kirkwood with at least a 2.5 GPA will be accorded junior status at Coe College.
