Why did you decide to attend Coe?
I decided to attend Coe because it allowed me the chance to be involved in sports while getting a very high quality education. The atmosphere that I felt when I visited just drew me in, and I knew I belonged here.
What does Coe mean to you?
Coe is more than just a school to me. I feel that Coe has become a place where I will always be more than just a student. The Coe community is a family, and that is really special to me.
What is it like living in Cedar Rapids?
Living in Cedar Rapids is nice because there are a lot of things to do around town without feeling like it’s too big. Coe is located in an area where there are lots of places to go to that are within a short distance.
Have you had any internship, research or study abroad experiences?
I have done two summers of undergraduate research here at Coe. The summer before my freshman and sophomore years I did glass research in the physics department, and it was one of the best experiences of my life. Not only was I able to get valuable experience, but the opportunities that were opened to me as well as the relationships that I built are more than I could have ever hoped.
Why should a prospective student choose Coe?
A prospective student should choose Coe because of the family atmosphere. Everyone here at Coe is willing to help others with anything. There are many possibilities at Coe as well. There is no limit on the amount of activities that a student can be involved in.
How has Coe changed your life?
Coe has changed my life in that it has allowed me to do many things that I never thought would be possible. I did not think I was going to play football in college and now I do. I also never imagined that I would have a research experience before I was an upperclassman, let alone two.
What do you do for fun on the weekends?
On the weekends, I just enjoy hanging out with my friends. Whether it’s hanging out in the dorms and playing video games, or watching a game, we are always doing something.
How was your transition from high school to Coe?
The transition from high school to Coe was difficult at first, but it was made much easier by all of the help available at Coe. My advisor my freshman year was one of the most helpful people that I have ever met. He was willing to do just about anything to make sure that I succeeded.
What do you plan to do after Coe?
After Coe, I plan on going to grad school in order to get my Ph.D. in some sort of engineering. After that, I would like to get a job working with some kind of technology. I would really enjoy doing something with designing consumer electronics, because of how important they are to everyday life.
