Theatre Arts
The Coe theatre program is designed to give broad and comprehensive exposure to both intellectual and artistic development in a production-oriented atmosphere. A variety of courses are offered through the department including acting, directing, design, technical production, playwriting, dramaturgy, and dance.
Program Highlights
- Off-Stage Players, a student-run theatre organization, sponsors monthly open stage performances, trips to professional productions off-campus, and outreach programs.
- Many Coe theatre majors plan a term of off-campus study within their major. This could include Coe's New York Term, The Chicago Arts Program, The London Program, or any number of off-campus destinations overseas.
- The department sponsors a National Playwriting Competition biennially for the purpose of supporting and presenting new works for the stage.
