Mathematics
Coe's mathematics program is designed to prepare students for a range of careers in business, industry, or teaching, and also to provide a solid theoretical foundation for students interested in attending graduate school. The Department of Mathematical Sciences offers both a major and minor concentration in mathematics.
Program Highlights:
- Advanced courses are regularly offered in Algebra, Analysis, Differential Equations, Statistics, and Topology.
- A growing number of our best students are participating in summer REU (Research Experience for Undergraduates) programs to get a taste of what original work in the mathematical sciences is like.
- A semester-long program at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory allows advanced students in the mathematical sciences to work alongside professional scientists as junior members of Oak Ridge research teams.
