Literature
The Literature major includes all areas of language and literature taught at Coe. Students take at least two advanced courses in a foreign language and choose other courses from the English and Foreign Language Departments. A particular purpose of the Literature major is to develop an awareness of differences and similarities between cultures.
Program Highlights:
- Individually designed internships are available in businesses and organizations throughout the U.S. and the world.
- Literature and English majors have many opportunities to become involved in writing and publishing. Students can work on any the newspaper and any of several literary magazines: The Coe Review, a journal of poetry and fiction; Colere, a journal devoted to writing about cultural exploration; and The Pearl, a journal of student-written non-fiction.
- Students have the opportunity to study off campus in cities such as London, Tokyo, Bangkok, Florence, Chicago, New York, and Washington, D.C., as well as in other nations.
