Perkins, Canfield, and McElroy Loans

General Information

PLEASE NOTE: Educational Computer Systems Incorporated (ECSI) is the loan servicer for Coe College’s Federal Perkins Loans, McElroy Loans, and Canfield Loans. ECSI is responsible for all of the billing and repayment information on these loans. You can access their website at http://www.ecsi.net for more information.

Federal Perkins Student loan borrowers who leave Coe College, either by graduating, withdrawing, or failing to return for a subsequent semester, are required by Federal Law (34 CFR Section 674.42b) to complete exit counseling. The Registrar is not able to release academic records for any student that has not met this requirement. This requirement can be met by doing an individual counseling session, group counseling session, or on-line at the following website:

https://www.ecsi.net/cgi-bin/bcgi.exe

You must complete the Perkins, McElroy, and/or Canfield Loan exit counseling prior to graduation. Your official transcript cannot be released if you fail to complete your exit counseling session. Note that if you have more than one type of loan (Federal Direct Loan, etc.), you may have more than one exit counseling to complete (SEE OTHER LINKS ON THE EXIT COUNSELING SITE).

The purpose of the exit interview is to inform you of your rights and responsibilities based on the financial aid you accepted from your institution. The information presented during the interview is a summary of the information contained on the promissory note(s) you signed for financial aid. The promissory note is the binding obligation between you and your institution. We suggest that you review your promissory note(s) carefully in order to become familiar with all of the features and duties. Also, your promissory note will describe any deferment and cancellation privileges (more later).

You will be requested to answer a series of questions at the start of the interview to demonstrate your understanding of the materials. You can not complete the interview until you have correctly answered the questions. If you can not successfully complete the questions, you will need to contact your loan office.

Important Note! Your institution reserves the right to reject any on-line exit interview due to missing or unacceptable responses. Please carefully provide correct and complete information.

Below are the computer requirements needed to complete an on-line exit interview:

  1. Netscape 4.0 (or newer) or Internet Explorer 4.0 (or newer). Other browsers may work but have not been tested.
  2. You must not have images disabled.
  3. Enabling JavaScript is recommended but not required.
  4. Certain documents and forms will require the Adobe Acrobat Reader. If you need a copy of the Acrobat Reader, you can download it for free from Adobe.

What is required?

Before you start, you will need the following information:

  1. Your ECSI Pin Number that was sent to you in your exit letter or email.
  2. Your Social Security number
  3. Coe's School code which is 84
  4. Your driver's license number
  5. Names, addresses, telephone numbers, and employers for your next of kin and/or parent
  6. Names, addresses, telephone numbers, and employers for three references residing at different addresses
  7. Name, address, and telephone number of your expected employer (if known)
NOTE: Providing names and information for your spouse, parent, next of kin, and references does not obligate them to assist with repayment of your loan. Regulations require that you provide this data so your loan holder can locate you, if, in the future, they have an invalid address or phone number.

If you have any complaints regarding the servicing of your loans in the future, you may contact the Student Loan Ombudsman's office. They may be reached via phone, mail, or on the Internet. Their toll free number is (877)557-2575. On the internet, you may contact them through the following website:
