Awards & Prizes
Over 30 monetary awards honoring excellent writing are given each year to Coe students:
- First-Year Seminar Portfolio Awards
- Paul Engle Prize
- COETRY Awards for poetry-across-the-curriculum competition
- Young Essay Prizes
- The Pearl Prizes for Non-fiction
- James Good Excellence in Journalism Award
- Stephen Phelps Awards in writing
Students are also active in competing for regional and national prizes, including a recent first runner-up in the Nick Adams short story competition. Dozens of stories, poems, essays, and articles written by Coe students have been published in literary and academic journals.
