Physical Education

Students interested in health and human performance find Coe College Physical Education department of particular interest.  The physical education major is a popular choice at Coe College.  The department has averaged eighteen graduates per year the past five years.  The physical education department at Coe College provides two different study tracts from which students have the opportunity to choose from.  There is teacher preparation for those students who want to be actively involved in the promotion of physical lifestyles through an education setting.  These students are interested in being part of a school setting where they could be teaching any grade level kindergarten through twelfth grade.  Students in this tract usually pursue and added teaching endorsement of health for their license, thus making them more marketable. Many students elect to pursue our Fitness Development tract.  It is a very popular route.  There is a core of eight courses that a student must take. After that they have two different  clusters of physical education courses they decide to enroll to finish their major.  One cluster is our strength and conditioning group and the other is our health and wellness group.  So whether it be teaching in a school setting, working in the personal training industry, becoming a strength coach, going to graduate school, pursuing a career in the allied health industry, or becoming a full time coach, the physical education department can help get you started on your career path.
