All Coe students who wish to enroll in off-campus programs and transfer academic credit back to Coe MUST complete an Off-Campus Study application and submit it to the Director of Off-Campus Study. Application forms may be obtained from the Director of Off-Campus Study, located in the Career Services Offices in upper Gage. Students who wish to study on one of Coe's exchange programs must return their applications to the Director of Off-Campus Study six weeks before the end of the term prior to the term on which the student wishes to study off campus. Students must also apply directly to the off-campus program or programs of their choice. Students must register at Coe College for the appropriate off-campus course.
Coe College courses that are conducted off-campus, such as May Term trips abroad, Coe's New York Term Program, Washington Term Program, and Wilderness Field Station, are not subject to these policies. Also excluded are programs where Coe and the sponsoring institution have a written agreement regarding the cross-registration of students, such as Mt. Mercy courses. The Registrar's Office can provide specific information regarding the status of particular programs of study.
The Associated Colleges of the Midwest (ACM) are 14 academically excellent, independent liberal arts colleges located in Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Colorado. ACM's off-campus study programs encompass a wide array of settings and academic disciplines. Some include courses at a host university, while others emphasize experiences outside the classroom, such as internships. Several offer research opportunities rarely available to undergraduates.
