Neuroscience
Neuroscience is an interdisciplinary field dedicated to understanding the brain and nervous system. Scientific work in this area is guided by biology, chemistry, and psychology, and also includes contributions from other disciplines such as physics, computer science, mathematics, and medicine. The Neuroscience collateral major at Coe requires a major in biology, chemistry, or psychology and provides students with a solid foundation for graduate study in neuroscience-related programs, medicine, and health-related careers.
Neuroscience at Coe
The Neuroscience major was established at Coe in 2007 and reflects a long tradition of student interest and study in the field. Over the last 20 years, Coe has produced a number of students who have gone onto graduate study in neuroscience and neuroscience-related careers. The Neuroscience major was designed to give students interested in the field the strongest possible guidance for building a solid foundation for graduate study. The major also provides valuable training for students who may pursue public health, mental health, and other health-related fields immediately after graduating from Coe. The preparation that students receive in the neuroscience major gives them additional insight into environmental, medical, and psychological influences on the nervous system.
