Art and Art History
In the Art and Art History Department students engage in a wide range of coursework and experiences that encourage them to become creative thinkers, designers and problem solvers.
We offer Art classes in:
- Digital Art
- Graphic design
- Art Ed certification
Our Art History curriculum is composed of courses both thematic and chronological, encouraging students to learn how visual languages have been created, reshaped or manipulated to persuade, entertain, educate and move audiences across time and cultures.
The culminating experience for our majors is either a Senior Gallery Exhibition or the completion of an Art History Thesis. In these capstones our students demonstrate the knowledge and skills they have learned in our program, illustrating to potential employers and graduate schools their independent voices and creative thinking.
A degree in art or art history prepares you for a wide range of rewarding careers in the arts, in business, in academia, and elsewhere. Coe graduates in art and art history are visually literate, understanding how to navigate the multi-media world of the 21st century, and also how to use their creative problem solving skills to change and reshape that world.
