African-American Studies

The African American Studies major offers students the opportunity to study African American culture through an interdisciplinary approach.  Students take courses in areas such as history, literature, and sociology in order to gain a more complete understanding of the major figures and movements that helped define the culture.

Students who pursue a degree in African American Studies at Coe have the opportunity to work with instructors with a range of expertise on topics and issues regarding the African American experience and plays a key role in the college's efforts to provide students opportunities to build good foundations of understanding and coping in our complex world and growing multicultural society.
