Bruce Nesmith is Joan and Abbott Lipsky Professor and Chair of political science. He teaches courses on American political institutions, religion and U.S. politics, and political philosophy. He is author of The New Republican Coalition: The Reagan Campaigns and White Evangelicals (Peter Lang, 1994). His current research deals with policy making by the President and Congress. He is the faculty adviser to Political Science Club. He is married with two children. In his spare time he writes and performs original folk songs; he has recorded one album, "Mouth Full of Mustard".

Lynda Barrow’s research interests are in Latin American politics and the intersections of politics and religion. Most summers she can be found in Mexico, conducting research on evangelical Protestants, interviewing political candidates, or leading Habitat for Humanity projects. She also serves as the faculty advisor for Coe’s Habitat for Humanity chapter. She teaches a variety of courses on world politics and comparative politics, including Introduction to Politics, American Foreign Policy, International Development, Religion and World Politics, and Mexican Politics.


Kimberly Lanegran

Kimberly Lanegran teaches courses on comparative politics, international organizations, women and politics, and US public policy. Her publications focus on international human rights trials and the political transformation of South Africa. Recently she edited a special issue of African Studies Quarterly on Truth and Reconciliation Commissions in Africa.


Nancy H. Evans, Instructor in Political Science

Nancy Evans is adjunct faculty in the political science department at Coe College where she has taught for over twenty years. She currently teaches Constitutional Law. In previous lives, she was an Assistant Linn County Attorney and Commissioner of Public Safety for the city of Cedar Rapids.
