"Coe College's Jazz Ensemble is a group that can challenge everyone from beginners on up to quite advanced players but not make it seem like it's challenging. The music is always the right fit for the band as a whole, and the director is one of the very finest in the area and quite possibly one of the finest jazz educators nationwide. This is really a group in which you can grow both technically and musically and have a blast playing jazz."

The Gold Jazz Ensemble is the premier jazz group at Coe and performs several times per year on-and off-campus. Additional opportunities exist for students in small group (combo) playing and in improvisation and composition studies. Coe annually brings jazz professionals to campus for several days to work with the jazz students and perform with them in the popular Jazz Summit concerts.
