Robert Yeats, M.M.
Low brass
After graduating from Ithaca College in New York, Bob Yeats
spent the next three years as band and orchestra director at
PennYan Junior High located deep in the Finger Lakes wine country.
Encouraged by a phone call from an old friend, he moved to Iowa
City to work on a Master's degree and spend a couple of years
playing brass quintets. That was in 1969. Bob retired from the
University of Iowa in 2003 after more than 30 years of teaching
and 33 years with the Iowa Brass Quintet. Aside from spending
his days amusing his cats, Bob tutors at the Catherine McAuley
Center in Cedar Rapids, serves on the Board of the Scattergood
School and the American Friends Service Committee and can be
occasionally seen protesting the war in Iraq. He continues performing
with the EIBB, Quad City Symphony and the Pine Mountain Music
Festival.
