Earle W. Dickinson, M.A.
Part-Time Instructor in Music
Earle W. Dickinson recently retired in 2002 as Director of Bands
after 23 years at Jefferson High School in Cedar Rapids. He also
taught at Tripoli, Tipton and Wilson Junior High in Cedar Rapids.
He graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a Bachelor
of Arts in Music in 1969 and a Masters Degree in Music in 1972.
Dickinson became the Editor of the Iowa Bandmaster in
the spring of 1982 and continued through the summer of 2002.
He was elected President of the Iowa Bandmasters for the 1987-1988
school year and in 1989 was awarded the Karl King Distinguished
Service Award- Active. In 2003 he received the Karl King Distinguished
Service Award-Retired In 2000, School Band and Orchestra
magazine recognized him as one of "50 Directors Who Make
a Difference."
In semi-retirement, he is secondary music facilitator for the
Cedar Rapids Schools and teaches low brass lessons at Jefferson
High School. He also supervises student teachers and teaches
methods classes for Coe College.
