Graduation Weekend
 

You are cordially invited to attend graduation weekend 2008 at Coe College.  The schedule for the weekend is as follows:

Saturday, May 3
   
10 a.m. Academic Honors Convocation in Dows Theatre. Seniors will be receiving academic awards and recognition. To view Honors Convocation Awards, click here.
   
11:30 a.m. Nurses' Pinning Reception in Gage Memorial Union.
   
1:30 p.m. Phi Beta Kappa initiates will be honored at an induction ceremony in the Perrine Gallery of Stewart Memorial Library.
   
3 p.m.

Baccalaureate service in Sinclair Memorial Auditorium.

The Baccalaureate speaker will be the Rev. Dr. Barbara K. Lundblad, Joe R. Engle Associate Professor of Preaching at the Union Theological Seminar in New York City.

   
4 p.m. President's reception. Following Baccalaureate, Coe President James Phifer and the faculty will host a reception for parents, families and seniors to meet faculty and staff. The reception will be held at Clark Alumni House.
   
   
Sunday, May 4
7:30-9:30 a.m. Breakfast is available in the Gage Union Dining Hall. The breakfast cost is $5 for adults, $2.50 for children 10 and under. No charge for Coe students.
   
10 a.m.

Commencement ceremony. Graduates will ring the Victory Bell in front of Eby Fieldhouse and then proceed across campus, escorted by the faculty, for the start of commencement exercises on the Stewart Memorial Library lawn. About 2,500 seats will be available on chairs and bleachers. Family members may also bring blankets or lawn chairs. Umbrellas and windbreakers are strongly recommended in case of rainy or cool conditions. The Coe Concert Band, under the direction of Dr. William Carson, will perform starting at 9:30 a.m. In case of inclement weather, the commencement ceremony will be held in Eby Fieldhouse.

Graduates and their families will be honored at an outdoor reception following commencement.

The commencement address will be given by Iowa Senator Tom Harkin.
