EcoHouse
Who are we?
EcoHouse is a way of life. Dwellers strive to incorporate sustainable practices in our daily lives. This can be as simple as growing fresh herbs, or as ambitious as installing a solar water heater. With great vivacity (and a dash of cheek), we see ourselves as an agent of change for Coe College, demonstrating that concern for our environment and maintaining an excellent quality of life is by no means mutually exclusive. We seek to raise awareness of a variety of environmental issues, such as:
- The economic benefits of consuming locally grown produce, fresh from Iowan families
- Simple ways to reduce household energy consumption (and save money at the same time)
- Using alternative modes of transportation such as biking and walking to escape the Coe Bubble
- The sheer joy of wildness, for "In wildness is the preservation of the soul" (H.D. Thoreau)
